So, Erika and I were at Walmart and she was shopping for some clothes. As I was waiting by the dressing room I see an employee do a check to see if there is anyone in these rooms. She yells out "Anyone in there?" as she raps on the door. "Someone's in here," the girl behind the first door, who's probably half-naked, responds. The "role call" or check of the dressing rooms continues and each girl responds the same way.
Now, what I wanna know is why these 4 or 5 people, and lots of other people in the world, respond in 3rd person when someone isn't visible and asking them a question. When they're at home spending time with their significant other and they have to go to the bathroom but they're in the kitchen and the boyfriend/girlfriend is in the other room not visible, say "Honey, Jessica will be right back. She's going to the bathroom." or "Tommy can't answer the phone right now sweety, can you grab it." NO! No one talks in 3rd person on purpose in everyday situations. So don't do it when you're in the bathroom at home and someone knocks to see if someone's in there. If someone asks "Is someone in here?" make your response, "yeah, and I'll be out in a minute" or something to that effect.
In other news. In New Jersey, it has snowed a good amount and they've closed a good portion of schools in the Rutgers/Central Jersey Area. I didn't know this at first. My class starts at 12:30pm and I don't have to leave untill 11:30am just to be safe. So, in turn, I'm usually not up before 10 unless someone or something wakes me up. My fiance called me at about 10:15 and says "Babe you gotta get up, you have school." Right before this my brother walks in and asks if I have school, since Rutgers is closed. Rutgers never closes by the way. There has to be at least 6 inches of snow for them to cancel school. the same with most colleges. Needless to say, it snowed about 6 or so inches. Anyway, I'm on the phone with Erika and she's tellin me that I need to get up and start getting ready for school. I'm like, "are you serious? rutgers doesn't have school. you're not bullshitting me are you?" she says no with the utmost sincerity I've heard from anyone in a long time. So, i'm about to hang up and get dressed when she says "What are you gonna hang up with me for? It's not like you have school or anything." and at that point she tells me my younger brother was in on the whole scheme too. Isn't that lovely. I can't even trust my own fiancee to tell the truth with such trivial information anymore. :sigh:
eh, i'm just kidding. we're off to go sledding or something. I hope i have work still. I need the money.
