The Daily Dish of the Day

Here are a few tid bits of things that are circulating right now and my opinions with it.

Paris Hilton
so get this, Paris Hilton is on a new reality show on MTV. what else is new huh? anyway, i don't know if it has started already but i know its for real. well, she wants a new bff(aka she just wants any excuse to get more media attention and keep her popularity above par). They have this competition going to see who will become her new best friend. i think this is pretty ridiculous but if you're going to vote for anyone i say vote for Big Jim.

Life for Sale on eBay
This 44 year old man from Australia has just broken up with his girlfriend and wants to start fresh. He feels that his whole house, his friends, and his job, all remind him of her and he wants a fresh start. So in order to do so, starting June 22nd he's putting his life, a one-time meet and greet with his friends and a week or so of paid training at his job.

Now i know how difficult it is to get over a girl once you've had you're heart broken but to sell your life to start fresh. that's a bit ridiculous. I don't think he should be selling everything he owns basically.

What has gotten into this world lately?

10 Weird Things Tag

I was tagged by Angela who runs the blog And then there were four...

This is 10 Weird things you may or may not know about me

1)
I must, and this is a must, sleep with my feet outside of the covers. This is especially if i fall asleep with my socks on. I feel that if my feet are under the covers that they're trapped. My feet need to be free in order for the rest of me to be comfortable.

2) on the topic of sleeping. most of the time i have to take my socks off when i'm laying down to go to sleep. it goes along with number one. if my feet are suffocating in socks or shoes the heat from my body cannot escape and i'll sweat at night and not be able to sleep well.

3) i feel the need to please everyone else before myself. explanation: i think this is weird because a lot of people in this world put themselves first and worry about others later. a lot of the people who i end up putting first do this. with this said i still put said person first. i should really concentrate on my own needs from time to time. but, i'm weird like that.

4) maybe it's just that i'm lazy but i find it odd that i almost never capitalize my i's or anything else for that matter. if this bothers you, i'm sorry.

5)
i love energy drinks. be it monster, red bull, amp, but not too much of the rockstar or full throttle though. i know, they're really bad for me and i shouldn't drink them, but i just can't help it sometimes.

6) I'm a control freak. if things don't go my way i tend to get a little moody. i'm not like this all the time though i promise.

7) when doing something, i'm not as original as i could be. i sometimes choose things or do things for the sake of other people's approval. i guess i never really got the approval i needed as a child.

8) I love to sing; i was in chorus from 4-12th grade. i never sing in the shower though. maybe it's because i can't bare to hear my own voice.

9) i tend to be optimistic way too often. this ties in with #3. Sometimes i get walked all over because i always see the bright side of things.

10) before listing these 10 things, i never actually thought i was weird. now, i could probably go on for another 5 things. but i'll keep it short.

Runners up: Knowing a little about a variety of things.
being frosty in my elementary school play.
having a cigarette after every meal

So there you have it. i guess i'll be tagging some other people.

Go Speed Racer

i was stumbling around the internet and found a great way to start a new part of my blog.

Video Clip of the week.

This week's Clip is a trailer for Speed Racer to be released May 9th 2008. It stars Emile Hirsch as Speed Racer, you may know him from the movie The Girl Next Door where he played high school student falling in love with the girl next door who turns out to be a porn star. The movie also stars Christina Ricci as his girlfriend Trixie, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman as Mom and Pop Racer.

After watching this trailer, i must say, this movie looks fantastic. A bit like a video game, yes, but none the less, fantastic. It would probably be a movie that would be fun to watch on drugs. Not that i condone drug use or anything, but the preview looks a little trippy. Most of the time i wait until the movie comes out on dvd, but i'll definitely be heading to theaters sometime around may 9th to see this movie.

go check out the clip and let me know what you think.

My Lucky Day I Guess

Today I had my midterm in Western Civ. II. I think i did fairly well, and from what i hear my professor is a lenient grader. Lets hope i did good. After my test was over i sat in the lobby and waited for rae to come get me. While doing so, a random guy walks up to me and asks to swap a dollar of his for one of mine because his wasn't working in the vending machines. I'm a generous guy, so i said yeah. It was an even swap, i had nothing to lose. I took his dollar straightened it out and popped it into the soda machine. First time around, it wouldn't stay in. Second time, it stayed, but registered as a 5 dollar bill. AMAZING! i just gained 4 dollars by being a nice guy and potentially risking a dollar i could've spent in the vending machine had it not stayed in. I figured it was only fair and I gave him 2 dollars out of the 4. I had nothing to lose. I was just gaining 2 dollars instead of 4. He was in such shock that he thanked me a million times and said that he was really thirsty and now he could get something to drink.

Good Deed of the day #1.

After this we went to Rae's moms house. She needed me to help her in picking up chairs from the store for her baby shower tomorrow. I really don't like the woman, but in a year or so, she may be my mother in law, so i agreed to help. But only as a favor to Rae. We took a ride over to the party rental place and picked up the 25 chairs and transported them to her house. It was quick and painless. No harm done.

Good Deed of the day #2

We had time to kill, so we went to Chuck and Tiff's house where my car has been abandoned in the parking lot for almost a year now and took some initiative. We cleaned it out to get it ready for donation. Well, semi-donation. I ended up getting $100 for it and the rest was used for scrap metal. Pretty sweet deal for both parties here. I now had a hundred bucks to go buy some alcohol and celebrate. What was I celebrating, you ask? The departure of my beloved 1998 Lincoln Town Car. You see, coming from Irish heritage, us "Mick's" drink a little alcohol to celebrate all occasions. Birth, Death, and Life as a whole. So, we picked up a bottle of Silver Patron and some Coors Light and headed for Chuck and Tiff's apartment.

Good Deed of the day #3

I think i was in pretty good shape for the day. 3 good deeds in one day. probably a record for the month. although, i'm not really counting the deeds, because they come from the heart. I don't do it for my own self-gratification.

At Chuck and Tiff's house we ordered food, drank, and watched No Country for Old Men. A very good movie, but i didn't like the ending to much. Altogether though, it was a great movie though. It was a comedy, a horror and a suspense film all rolled up into one. You should go rent it. It's definitely worth the viewing.

Speaking of being Irish, i plan on hitting up this bar in Highland Park, NJ. i heard that every year they bring in bag pipes and a full irish style band. it should be fun.

Anyone else doing anything interesting this St. Patrick's Day?

as always, comments are encouraged and appreciated.

well, good night to all, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Titles Brought to Life Pt. 1

Recently I came up with the idea to start clipping out titles from newspaper articles that i find interesting. Then, i thought to myself, i should write a poem about this and make it my own. So i did. Here is the first installment in Titles Brought To Life.

A Signal in the sky said: Marry Her
Day after day,
exchanging many kisses
we took things further
and furthermore
spending time together
getting to know each other
we learned lots of things
and grew to love another
spending many hours
walking the beach
strolling through the park
picnics by the river
...in the backseat after dark
she knew how to love me
how to take care of me
she knew what i wanted
and tended to my needs
something came over me
like a signal from the sky
Marry her you dope!
don't let this one pass you by.

I'm attending college currently and one of my classes is spanish 121 - introduction to spanish. or spanish 1. while looking through the podcasts on iTunes i found a whole set of spanish podcasts that help you speak spanish. this is going to be great.

Book Tag

I came across a random blog which had an entry similar to this one here.

i wasn't tagged but i figured i could start this up here. i thought it'd be cool.

So the way you play is:
1. Pick up the nearest book (with at least 123 pgs.)
2. Turn to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the next 3 sentences.
5. Tag 5 people.

The nearest book i found was Choke by Chuck Palahniuk

The fifth sentence on page 123:

If there was a girl you liked," I say to him, "if she wanted to have sex just so she could get pregnant, would you?"

wow...what a way to bring you into this book huh?
and the next three sentences are:

Ursula grabs her skirts up and comes stomping through the cow poop in her wooden clogs. She kicks a blind chicken that's in her way. Somebody snaps her picture, kicking.

If that doesn't make you want to read this book, i don't know what else could. :-) just kidding, although it was a really good book. A little twisted, though it is written by chuck Palahniuk, the guy who wrote the book turned movie, Fight Club, which starred Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.

So, there you have it. And now...to pass it on to 5 unsuspecting victims. :smiles:

This Splitzer guy is outta control...

Is There A Meaning?
Would someone please tell me

What life really means?
Is it an answer
Worth looking for?
Why do we search so hard?
To find that the answer
Was always inside us?
Is it because
We always need some validation
A constant need of
Communication
Or could it just be
Nature's way of
Letting us know what's up

just a little something i wrote while bored. i guess i was feeling that way at the time. not anymore, but i was at one point. i guess this is just a recurring theme in my life. What do i really want to do? Where do I really want to be in 5 years? Questions of that sort race through my mind when i'm alone. it's sometimes unbearable.

Does anyone have a clue as to why i feel this way?

Just testin this ish out.

...just give me a six-pack and a couple of bags of Skittles

So while "stumbling" around the internet i came across this really cool quote which made me think...

As explained by Cliff Clavin, of Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and Weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. "In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks The slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the Brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

Now, a lot of you people out there may be thinking, "are you serious? is this guy for real?" in all honesty, this is a bit of humor and is meant to be taken that way. if I'm trying to be serious you'll know. trust me. my vocabulary will be altered slightly.

but this theory is kinda cool. and makes a little sense. would be great if it were true though. i'd be going to the store to grab a 6-pack right now if it were. heh. ahh....its been a while since i pounded back a few good cold ones. maybe tomorrow night i'll coax the misses into letting me go out for a few drinks. maybe.....

another cool quote comes from a song i'm listening to from the movie Juno

"Up, down, up, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, start. just because we use cheats doesn't mean we're not smart."- exact song below.
